Events › Children’s Book Week and Michigan Character Scavenger Hunt (All Ages)

Celebrate Children’s Book Week (May 1-7) during Michigan Moves Month by participating in our Scavenger Hunt Extravaganza.

During the entire month of May you can get moving and explore the children’s department to search for characters from children’s books. These are not just any characters: each one is from a book either by a Michigan author or illustrated by a Michigan illustrator. Find the characters hidden around the children’s library, then check out a book by one of these amazing creators. While all of the characters are within the children’s library, this activity is for all ages (who doesn’t like supporting their local creatives?).

We hope you enjoy the search and maybe find a new favorite Michigan author or illustrator along the way. There are more than 40 characters in total, but when you’ve found as many as you like, come back to the Children’s Desk to tell us about your favorite character.
