Dances and Stories of India (all ages, families)

2:00 PM – 2:45 PM
Canton Public Library, Michigan

Description

Diwali is right around the corner! To prepare for this celebration and learn about others, we are hosting Ajanta Chakraborty, from Bollywood & Culture Groove.

Travel around India through dance, taking a vibrant journey into the heart of Indian culture! This session offers an introduction to the regional dances of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and more, paired with enchanting stories of the people from those regions. Participants will learn dance movements, understand their cultural significance, and explore the narratives that have shaped these traditions. It is an active and extremely engaging experience, enhanced with the usage of fun props and accessories, and completely beginner-friendly.

We are pleased to co-sponsor this program with our neighbors at Plymouth District Library (PDL). If you are unable to attend our program OR want to attend both, Ms Chakraborty is presenting "Magic of Diwali" at PDL this same morning, Saturday, October 18, 11:00 AM.

Our program does not require registration. All ages and abilities are welcome.
